Venezuela and Greece strengthen ties in order to face the threats of the neoliberal onslaught

Athens, April 12, 2016 (MPPRE).-  Farid Fernandez, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Government of Greece, held a meeting this Monday, April 11, with the Minister of Labor, Yorgos Katrúgalos, where they discussed possible ways of strengthening the relations and joint cooperation based on mutual respect, solidarity and complementarity, assessing at the same time the situation of the two nations from a social, political and economic view.

Katrúgalos noted that the leftist governments of both Venezuela and Greece, are accepting attacks seeking the annihilation of their social agenda. He stressed out that in the case of Venezuela this happens at a superlative level. He expressed solidarity with the people and the Venezuelan Government, considering that they are victims of their success giving voice to the poorest thus revealing the conflict of interests within the bourgeoisie of the Venezuelan society.

The ambassador, on the other hand, presented the achievements of the Bolivarian Revolution in the areas of education, economy and in building a safe social environment. However, he acknowledged the problems that arise in the economy sector, which is badly affected by the falling oil prices and the economic war launched by foreign centers and the rightwing internal opposition.

The Athenian government representative expressed his interest in visiting Venezuela and witnessing how the Bolivarian Revolution managed to transfer the power to the Venezuelan people, in order to use this experience in the Hellenic Republic. / Embassy
